"Preparing for Pandemic Influenza"
by Robert T. Rolfs, MD, MPHDr. Rolfs is a physician, trained in internal medicine and epidemiologist. He worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 1986-1993. He has been with the Utah Department of Health since 1993. Currently he is the State Epidemiologist. He also holds faculty positions at the University of Utah Medical Center and practices ½ day each week at the Fourth Street Clinic.
“This presentation covered the basic concepts of influenza (seasonal, avian, and pandemic); the Asian avian influenza strain (H5N1) that has raised alarms about a possible pandemic; what we can learn from past influenza pandemics; what an influenza pandemic might look like today and what is being done/can be done/needs to occur to prepare.”
